Information: JW Automarine played a major part in the successful salvage of the last Wellington bomber (Arthur Robert #N2980) to see active service in World War II. A large aluminium frame with JW Automarine Totally Enclosed Lift Bags attached was lowered to within four meters of the bomber. The frame was attached to strong lifting points on the bomber's wings and fuselage so that lifting could commence.

JW Automarine employed the use of Parachute style Lifting Bags and proceeded to lift the bomber in ten meter stage lifts to ensure stability. The bomber, suspended just twelve meters below the waters surface, was towed for six hours, 1.5 miles into shallow water using more of JW Automarine's Totally Enclosed Lifting Bags. The final and the most dramatic lift by JW Automarine involved inflating more air into the bags currently holding the plane in position below to bring it to the surface. The bomber registered a massive fourteen tonnes on the crane that hoisted it from the loch.

The Tail section of the bomber was successfully retrieved a few days later using JW Automarine's Totally Enclosed Lifting Bags.
